David Arrington, Commander

It has been an incredibly challenging year with the pandemic but there is light at the end of the tunnel!  The post will be opening fully on March 29th with the mask mandate still in place until lifted by public health officials.  The good news is most of us that frequent the facility will have been fully vaccinated which should greatly reduce the risk to members and staff.  We were extremely fortunate that, to the best of my knowledge, nobody contracted the virus at our post.

This is my last year as commander of your legion.  It is hard to believe it has been 6 years - it was a privilege.   During my time here we built an incredible team that saw this legion triple its gross income that allowed us to invest over $400,000 in upgrades and desperately needed maintenance.   Without the support of you and our community this would have never been possible.  During the pandemic we received over $50, 0000 in PPP Grants from US Government programs.  We are extremely solvent as we once again open our doors.

We are losing our Club Manager, Susan Pipher.  She has done an incredible job for us and will be missed.  Without her, our growth would not have been possible.  Her last day is April 23rd so stop in and say goodbye.  We have hired a new kitchen manager and bar manager that are extremely excited to take care of you and contribute to our post’s continued success.

Regular membership meetings will resume starting in April.   Starting at that meeting we will nominate individuals for the board and commander positions, so if you are interested please throw your name into the hat for consideration.   The election will take place at the May meeting.

So, with that my friends I say goodbye.  I wish all and this post the greatest of luck and success.  This is a strong legion, and I am sure with your support it will stay that way well into the future.

Auxiliary News

I hope everyone is doing well.  We have lost a few members, Dona Fredrick, and Joann Pipher, prayers to the family and friends.

We have 2021 dues that need to be paid so check your card for currency.  May is Poppy Month and we will have them out for donations that benefit our veterans.  With the post opening on March 29th, we will have a meeting April 27th at 7:00 pm at the post.

Happy Spring and Easter.  Mask up and social distance to stay safe.  Prayers to those in need.  God Bess.
