David Arrington, Commander
I think it's safe to say we have finally hit the warm weather season. Our new patio is getting used and everyone is enjoying the nice temperatures.
Our banquet room schedule for the upcoming year is just incredible! We have more events scheduled than ever before which is fantastic for our post!! But, with that said, we need to expand our volunteer list to ensure we do not put a burden on our current group. We are very unique with such a large number of volunteers which are essential to the success of this post. In a nutshell, this post cannot survive without the volunteers. So, if you have a little time that you can donate to your post, please let us know and we'll add you to our list. It doesn't mean you are committed every time you are called. You only help if it fits your schedule.
We have completed our election at the post and have added some new names to the leadership:
Larry Trowbridge - 2nd Vice Commander
Tom Reed - Finance Officer
John Yates - Executive Committee
I welcome them to the team and look forward to their wisdom. With the new, we have to say goodbye to some great individuals that have served in a leadership role for many years. John 'Doc' Pipher not only was a leader for your post, he was also deeply involved in District, Department and National Headquarters. Leonard Lambright has been involved on the board for many years, serving about every position the board has to offer and was the Finance Officer during my first year as Commander. Bill 'Chief' Dunafin also had many years of board experience and was my "sounding box" when I had new ideas or issues to resolve. I cannot say enoug about these men, without them your post would not be where it is today. Without them, my first year as commander would have been diificult at best. Everyone, when you see these men thank them for what they have done in support of your post. They are good, honorable men.
Everyone enjoy the weather and I hope to see you at the post. As always, keep your uniformed military in your thoughts. They are the best of us all.
Greetings! I hope all is well and everyone is enjoying the warm weather!
Our Squadron and District are doing well with membership, but it can always be better. Please make sure you have paid your dues. Also, be aware of friends or family that may be eligible to join but have not done so yet.
Our last 2nd Friday dinner was a great success. I'd like to thank everyone that attended, and especialy the Hubie Ashcraft Band. They played a great show and helped us to celebrate myself and the other new officers being elected.
I'm looking forward to the coming year, and serving as the Squadron Commander.
Don't forget the 2nd Friday dinners we have coming up over the summer. I know with the warm weather everyone will want to be out enjoying summer, but please come out and show your support.
Shirley Helmuth, President
Greetings! Spring is here!! Our 50-50 winners were Jeanette Sisson, Jerry Febles, Jack Miller, Becky Wappes, Sophie, and Steve Taylor. Thanks to all of you, our Chili and Soup Cookoff was a great success - making over $1,100 for the Joan Brady Nursing Scholarship. The winner of the chili was Monte Powell, and soup was Erin Powell. Thanks to all who helped and brought soup or chili.
April 7 is the 4th District Legion Meeting which means we will be providing desserts for the meal. Please have them at the Post by 4:30 pm. Also, our Kentucky Derby Party is on May 7 - wear your favorite hat and bring a snack to share. The party starts at 5:00 pm.
May is Poppy month. The dollars go to support our veterans so please donate.
Our meetings are April 26 and May 24. We will also be nominating officers for the upcoming year.
Please pay your dues if you have not already done so this year. Also, May 21 is Armed Forces Day; May 30 is Memorial Day - very special days at the Post. I hope to see you there! God bless family, friends and veterans.
Adam Music, ALR Director
Hello everyone! We are looking forward to another great year. Remember the dates for our amazing rib dinners:
We are raffling a grill which can be seen in the Post lobby. Stop by and take a look! Tickets can be purchased at the bar. We will draw the winner on Father's Day. Make sure you stop in and say hello!
