David Arrington, Commander
Hello everyone! It's hard to believe we are halfway through the winter. I sincerely hope all of you had a great holiday season and are looking forward to this New Year!
We have many special events and raffles scheduled for the upcoming year and we have put into place an information program that will keep you well informed. Our new website, legionpost215lagrange.org, is operational with a very fresh look as well as being very user friendly. The website will be updated often to keep you apprised of events and other Legion specific information. The look, such as background pictures, will also be changed periodically to keep the website fresh and emphasize special events. The calendar of events will interest many - click any day that has an event scheduled and details of that event will appear. This feature will allow us to elaborate, a luxury we have not had on our newsletters. I encourage all of you to take a look at the new site and make suggestions to improve it.
Coupled with our website is our Facebook page, America Legion Post 215, which will give up to date (daily if necessary) information on what is happening at our post and any schedule additions/changes. If the computer based information isn't enough, watch for ads in our local newspapers and on the radio at Thunder Country 105.5 for upcoming events. By the way - our radio campaign has brough in a significant increase in business and new memberships. It is a resounding success!
I encourage all of you to stop in and spend some time. We have a great crew that will take very good care of you, and the atmosphere is friendly and just downright fun! If you have suggestions or concerns, please let me know and as always, keep our uniformed military in your thoughts. They are the best of us all!
Greetings! Our squadron is doing great with membership, but this doesn't mean we should stop. Please let anyone who is eligible know all they need to do is stop in and fill out the short application to become a member. Also, if you are already a member but have made any changes such as phone number or address, please let us know so we can keep your information up to date.
We have a lot going on in the next couple months. On February 12, which is our regular steak fry night, the dinner will benefit the Veterans Headstone Project. This is a fantastic organization that is doing great things for our fallen heroes. Also in February, we will be hosting the Lakeland Middle School Boosters benefit dinner on the 27th. Tickets to this dinner are presold. Students and parents involved in LMS athletics can get your tickets.
On March 11, we will be having our regular SAL steak fry. Also in March, we will have the Lakeland Baseball benefit dinner on the 26th. This dinner is presale only; contact any player involved in Lakeland Baseball to get tickets to the dinner.
Although many of the dinners coming are benefits for other organizations, they all bring people into the Legion and show what we stand for. I urge all affiliated with the Legion to support these organizations and show our support for our community.
As always, if anyone has any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me at any time. Thank you for all of your help and support in serving those who have served us.
Shirley Helmuth, President
Greetings! I hope your holidays were happy and safe. Our 50-50 winners were Don Penick and Lila Bowen. Congratulations! Thanks to all who donate and support children and veterans. Thank you ladies for the help with the Children's Christmas Party - the little ones enjoyed.
We are ready for the New Year, ladies, don't forget to pay your dues. We have the Joan Brady Nursing Scholarship Fundraiser on March 13 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm (again it will be a chili cook off). Bring your favorite soup or chili into the post and enjoy the day.
Our next meetings are February 23 and March 22 at 7:00 pm. God bless bamily, friends and veterans.
Adam Music, ALR Director
